This year for my 30th birthday I began a new series of self portraits. Seeing my self in a whole new way, through an MRI scanner. A self-portrait, to me as an artist, is a gateway to self-expression and introspection. It is a mirror that reflects not onty physical features but also the Intangible aspects of one's identity. Through brushstrokes, lines, or in this case, the imagery of an MRI brain scan, a self-portrait becomes a visual narrative, a glimpse into the depths of my psyche. They offer a profound opportunity to deive into the depths of one's being, to capture the essence of the soul. In the context of an MRI brain scan, a self-portrait transcends traditional artistic mediums, as it unveils the very fabric of my consciousness. It becomes a visual testament to the intricate tapestry of thoughts, memories, and emotions that shape who I am.

Within the scan, I not only capture my internal likeness but also strive to express the intangible aspects of my identity. It is an exploration of the subconscious, a journey of self-reflection that goes beyond the surface and invites viewers to contemplate the profound complexity of the human experience. In this unconventional self-portrait, I seek to bridge the gap between art and science, and challenge the ideas of what a self portrait can be. This self-portrait is an act of vulnerability, inviting viewers to witness and connect with the my innermost matter. To uncover beyond the flesh, into the very core of my humanness. As artists we're always on, sharing our artwork, our ideas, our dreams, etc... we're always in an vulnerable state. What more can I offer the world? Theres also an interesting discussion of my experience of the brain painting the brain.

This series will serve as a continuous body of work over the years, as well as a journey into how my brain my change over the years. Will my brain change, and will there be a correlation of what style of work I will be drawn to? Who knows. Either way it will be interesting to see long term where I can go with this idea.
